Where It All Started
Retro Expo started in July 2021 with a simple idea: bring full-scope nostalgia back to life under one roof, from the toys, comics, cartoons and TV of the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and early 2000s to the celebrity guests who made our childhoods special.
It’s a partnership between Heritage Event Company, the husband-and-wife team of Scott & Gail Kinney (who have been producing retro and vintage shows across Texas and beyond since 2009), and Ben Stevens of Official Pix, who built Fan Festival into one of North Texas’ best-known fan conventions before it was acquired by Fan Expo.
Together they’ve grown Retro Expo into an annual tradition that has welcomed over 100 celebrity guests and draws pop culture enthusiasts from across the Lone Star State and beyond.
