Comic Convention Non-Harassment Policy

Purpose

Retro Expo provides a fun, inclusive, and safe environment for all attendees, exhibitors,

guests, volunteers, and staff. We celebrate creativity, fandom, and community.

Harassment of any kind undermines that mission and will not be tolerated.

Expected Behavior

All participants at Retro Expo are expected to:

 Treat others with respect, kindness, and professionalism

 Be mindful of personal boundaries and physical space

 Ask permission before taking photos or videos of individuals

 Respect cosplay—cosplay is not consent

 Follow all instructions from convention staff and security

 Report any concerns or violations promptly

Unacceptable Behavior

Harassment of any kind is not tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:

 Verbal comments or gestures related to gender, gender identity, sexual

orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, or

fandom

 Intimidation, stalking, or following

 Unwanted photography or recording

 Sustained disruption of panels, signings, or events

 Inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome sexual attention

 Display of sexually explicit or graphic material outside designated areas

 Deliberate misgendering or refusal to use someone’s stated pronouns

 Any behavior that makes another attendee feel unsafe or unwelcome

Cosplay and Costumes

Retro Expo celebrates cosplay from every decade and genre. To keep it safe:

 Costumes must comply with local laws and venue rules

 Props must be peacebonded and approved by staff

 No realistic firearms or functional weapons

 No costumes or props that promote hate groups or discriminatory imagery

Reporting a Problem

If you experience or witness harassment:

 Notify convention staff or security immediately

 Visit the Info Desk or Safety Office for assistance

 You may report anonymously if preferred

 All reports will be taken seriously and handled promptly

 Will be handled discreetly, if possible

Consequences

Anyone asked to stop harassing behavior is expected to comply immediately. The

convention reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary, including:

 Verbal warnings

 Removal of props or badges

 Ejection from the convention without refund

 Contacting law enforcement if appropriate

everyone. We want everyone to feel welcome and supported. Staff members are

trained to respond to safety concerns with discretion and respect. Your comfort and

wellbeing matter to us.
